Good Evening!

Hope you've had a nice Father's Day!

I've had a great weekend, yesterday we took Ben to the Grand Theatre to see Thomas the Tank. It was much better than I thought it was going to be and Ben really enjoyed it. Today we went on a steam train ride with the in-laws then to see my Dad where we had a buffet tea and watched Paul on DVD.

Here's a card I made for my Dad, I bought the Trophy pre-cut card from Hobbycraft but tried to think outside the box so instead of using the shape just as a card blank I turned it into a Twisted Easel (sorry!!)

I had a go at making a rosette which turned out quite good for my first attempt and added some ribbon to the handles. The paper is Basic Grey Oliver with rub-ons and pearls from my stash.

I've made two more Father's Day cards - for my FIL which I forgot to photograph (oooppss!) and the other for my hubby which I'll post later in the week.

Right off to watch a bit of TV, but have to get my thinking cap on as it's Ben's 3rd Birthday on the 28th and need to make a card for that. I want to include his age and 'Son' on it somewhere and as I mentioned earlier he's into superhero's at the mo, I think I might have to break open TGF's Amazing Duo again!

Hello!!

Long time no blog! I won't bore you with the details but thought I'd try and blog a bit more, well until I get bored again LOL

Here's a card I made for my son to give to his Grandad whose birthday it is tomorrow.

It's a Twisted Easel card, I'm getting addicted to these - it's the third one I've made in as many weeks!

Ben is going through a super hero phase and loves anything to do with Superman, Batman, Spiderman etc so it was only appropriate that I dusted off The Greeting Farm's Amazing Duo Set.

I placed the words on acetate so they stand proud of the card. I'm really pleased with how this one turned out. It's a lot better than the version I had in my head!

Christmas is nearly here !

I hope you've all been good girls and boys so Father Christmas will bring you lots of nice presents!

Here is one of many Gift Card Holders that I've made.

This one is for Alex

The paper is Basic Grey Jovial, initially I did not like this pad at all but after flicking through it a few times at the NEC it grew on me, so much so I've nearly used the whole 6x6 pad!. I'm so tempted to get another one.

I added a Basic Grey magnet for the closure, with the positive clasp being sandwiched between the layers for extra hold.

I'm so pleased how this one turned out, for once I manged to cut all the layers and mat them quite straight so it looks quite professional even if I say so myself LOL

Happy Birthday Lil Bro - LOTV Thursday Challenge

Not 100% convinced on this one! It seems that making what feels like a billion Christmas Cards has left me with very little Mojo.

I've used My Mind's Eye - Little Boy Blue that I've been hoarding for sometime, it's one of my all time fave's so I did not want to cut into it! I've added a craftwork card sentiment and a hand cut number 13 (this was painted with Tim Holtz Crackle accent but you can't tell in the picture).

I'm loving Lili of the Valley Stamps at the moment and bought lots at the NEC so expect to see a few cards coming up with them.

Sorry about the rubbish picture - I'm still figuring out what Ben has done to my camera (he's changed all the settings on it! - little monkey!!)

Another hobby to add to the list!

So after noseying around blogland, I ended up on etsy looking at knitting patterns! I've had the bright idea of knitting Ben and Alex a little extra gift in the form of a Christmas Hooligan . .

Holly, Ivy and Steve to call them by their proper names!

Bearing in mind I haven't knitted since I was little and even then it was plain knit squares. But liking a challenge I went ahead and bought the pattern, printed it off and trotted round to my Mom's for a crash course on knitting. It turns out that these little hooligans are knitted in the round or on three needles, well you might as well of been taking a foreign language. But not put off we headed to Lora Crafts to purchase the wool and needles. I went for cheap and cheerful Stylecraft DK in Lipstick, Zing and Cream.

Back home and raring to go we turned to Judy (lol) on you tube!! Whatever did we do before the internet? We watched the video a few times and after a few false starts we were away!!!

And there we have it, a week later and all of Steve's body parts are knitted, just waiting on some safety eyes and then I'll sew him up.

I'm pleased that I've managed to get this far with only the help of my Mom and Judy - so much so I've started knitting up Holly.

But I'll save her to show you another day . . . .

My (not so little anymore) brother announced that him and his girlfriend are having a baby. Little Lloyd is due the end of May 2011. My Hubby and I are so pleased for them both and I think Ben will be chuffed to bits to have a little playmate. At the moment we are all convinced it's a boy . . . . .

I have made loads of cards the past few weeks but need to get my bum in gear to photograph them and post them so hopefully I'll be back soon.

Trick or Treat Bag!

I'm back with a quick post to show you Alex's Trick or Treat Gift Bag that I filled with sweets.

We made the bag in my weekly card case, so I had to make a Halloween version for my homework.

It's pretty simple but I think it adds a personal touch to your present giving!

It was hubby's turn to get creative this week, what do you think ?

Meet Polly and her baby Pete the newest additions to the Williams family !

I think he did a great job and the planning has already started on next years LOL

I also made Alex's Halloween Card.

It's a double Tri Shutter Card, lots of cutting and folding but looks really effective.

As I don't own many Halloween Stamps, so I used the Scary Story Cards from the Echo Park Happy Halloween range along with a few of the papers.

It came out much better than I wanted to and now I can't wait to make a Christmas themed one!

TGF Altered Notebook Contest

Well I'm back and have been a busy bee !!

I decided to enter The Greeting's Farm Altered

Notebook Contest.

As I took so many photo's and I didn't want this post to be too photo heavy I've created a little slide show.

So let's start at the beginning ! :

I started off with a plain Kraft Book from Paperchase
I used Crate Paper School Spirit to decorate the front cover. Covered Chipboard letter from my stash and tied various ribbons to the wire binding
The Grade Card of the front cover is magnetized so that the student can change the Wild Sprout to suit their personality (see Paul & Nahla Pic)
I have altered the first part of the book, creating four tabbed pages for lessons, each page has a Sprout on it that has been stamped with Black Memento Ink and coloured using Promarkers of paper pierced (see Jeremy, Miko, Odette and Flirty Edward)
The following pages were left untouched with just an outline stamp of each Sprout
On the back page I added a Crate Paper School Spirit sticker to cover the Paperchase Logo

I really enjoyed making this, it would be great if I won as it's a fantastic prize but on the other hand I don't want to part with it!!

Feeling Old . . .

Well July and August are full of birthday so I'm being a busy, busy bee! and to top it all off there are some big birthdays, the firs one being Alex (my Godson) who turns a big 10 !!

After much thought and deliberating and siting at the dining table staring at a card blank, I had an epiphany and rmaged through my stamp collection for Amazing duo (again!) I thought that this maybe the last time I do a kiddie style card so I went to town.

I started off with a easel card, using DCWV All about Boys stack wanting the card to look like a comic book page. I added los of matting and layering so this card weighs pretty heavy (good job I hand delivered it). I found in my stash a Making Memories Clip so added that too, using a piece of Basic Grey basics note paper.

The easel is propped up with a punched strip of Martha Stewart Stars border and a polka dot ribbon.

The sentiments were made sing a mixture of Greeting Farm stamps and Doodlebug rub-ons, I was very crafty with these as I had used up several of the letters I needed so I re-crafted them using other letters i.e the 'd' is infact a 'p' and the 'y' is a 'j' with a 'u' on the top!

I saw these paper mache letters in Hobbycraft and thought it would make a nice little gift. I wanted to keep it pretty simple so it would grow with him so just a paint job with a Crown tester pot, a few pears, ribbon and his name. It's a bit more simple than I like but I'd spent that long on his card I was pushed for time!

Lastly a Gift Card using scraps from the card.

I added a strip of ribbon to the inside to keep the money in place.

A Father's Day Commision

After bragging on facebook about how good my Father's Day card for Gwyn was, my friend asked if I would make one for her kiddies to give to their dad. So here it is! and I don't like to admit it but it turned out better than the original!!

The spiral card is what we did in craft class last Thursday so when I sat down to make a Father's Day I got all inspired LOL (I wish this would happen on a more regular basis!)

The front I kept pretty simple as the inside is so busy. I stamped Amazing Duo in versa fine ink and coloured then in using a mixture of Promarkers and Polychromo's. The sentiment is stamped in Cherry Red Staz On and layered a few times with Bazzill/Coredinations. Red doodlebug Rub ons were also used.

On the inside I really went to town. The yellow DP was only 8x8 so it came up short so I added a strip of the stars paper with a Martha Stewart Border to cover up the join. An acetate circle was die cut with a nestie then cut into a spiral with either end stuck onto the insides of the card. The 'superhero' words the then stamped, cut, layered and stuck onto the spiral so the pop up and stand proud of the card. I added left over stars (from the border punch) for a little extra detail.

As there is no room on the inside for a greeting I added a layered square for the personal message.

I enjoyed making this card so much I'm going to be sad to part with it LOL

Afternoon all !!

I'm still having a busy few weeks, but managed to fit in a couple of cards. This is one I made for Lyndsey's birthday the beginning of the month. As soon as I saw the new Magnolia releases I wanted them all so I was pleased to find the Magnolia stand at the NEC were stocking some of them. I teamed Tilda with Jolly Roger with MME Quite Contrary papers from The Hobby House. I think they go great together. They are all matted and layered onto pastel pink card stock but the camera hasn't picked it up too well.

(Please excuse the poor quality of pics I'm having to use my mobile until I can save up for a new camera)

Firstly, let me appologise for not being around much. The last few weeks have been hectic to say the least.

All my Wedding Invites have been made and the daytime invites have been delivered, even after a huge fluff up on Royal Mail's part (too much to go into).

I've made a fair few cards but unfortunately my camera is broken thanks to my 21 month old son who now thinks he's David Bailey !!

On Tuesday I answered Bev's request to help Jill from The Hobby House to work on their stall at the NEC. After a couple of emails and phone calls I got the job!! I had a great time, it was great seeing all the stash go up on the stall, Jill and Mark were lovely to work for and I had a great time meeting all the lovely ladies (and men!!) that came to the NEC. I even got to meet Dawn of All Pink Girl who was doing a bit of crafty shopping. And of course no trip to the Hobbycrafts Exhibition could go without a few purchases so today was SHOPPING DAY. I made just a couple of purchases (LOL) from the Magnolia stand, The Hobby House, Riverside Beads to name a few . . . .

So after a long few days, I'm looking forward to my bed tonight.

This is what I came up with for my cousin's birthday . . . . he's 17 so it was difficult to find something in my stash that was masculine!

I am entering this into Monday's Club Anya and Friends Contest which was to make an easel card incorporating ribbon. I find it hard adding ribbon to men's card without making it look too frilly so I kept it pretty simple by putting two strips across the corners.

I have also layered this one using black papermill card stock, silver DCWV card stock and DCWV Rockstar DP. I added some Making Memories brads and a cuttlebug embossed star behind Edward. Edward was coloured in using polychromo's.

We are off to a 1st Birthday party in a bit for one of Ben's little friends. I have bought her a little princess doll and wanted a card to match. After having a mooch through my stamps I couldn't find anything suitable but I did have a stamped image I had received from a friend. I tried to colour her in to match the dolly. I don't think I did a bad job! I've also added small doodlebug rub-ons to her stash to say "1 today" not "1 toady" as my Fiance thinks!! I kept the card pretty simple as per usual I had left things to the last minute!!

I have used my new Christmas stash and a technique that I learnt at my weekly craft class. I really enjoyed this one, it came out better than I wanted it to (sorry about the dodgy pics, I was rushing!).

A Criss Cross Christmas

This is what we learned to make on our second class at Lora Crafts, we made one in class (pic to come) and our homework was to make one on our own. I really enjoyed it and it came out even better than I imagined it (even if I do say so myself!).

Above is the band that goes around the card. I cut out the snowman and mounted it onto a tag made from Whitewash coredinations that had been embossed with a cuttlebug snowflakes folder. The Craftwork Cards sentiment fitted in perfectly.

This is the tag that went inside the card. The sentiment was computer generated and I distressed the edges with Tim Holtz Tattered Rose Distress inks to stop the paper from looking too harsh.

At last blogger has decided to play ball and let me upload pics!! So here are two that I made for Halloween. The Mummy Trevor went to my godson who declared that it is my best card to date and he can't wait to see his Christmas card, no pressure there then!

I went to the second installment of my weekly craft class @ Lora Crafts and had a great time! We made a criss cross card this week and although I had made one of these before, this one was completely different so I learnt something new. So when I got home I made a start on my homework (like a good girl!), I'm made the card up just need to embellish it!

I am still around but very busy at the moment. I have a couple of things in the pipe line that will hopefully soon be finished.

I had a fab time visiting the NEC last weekend, I went by myself on the Friday and although I was a little apprehensive at first I had the most fantastic time, so much so I went again on the Saturday. I did plan on going it alone on that day as well but my Mom asked if she could join me. I think I spent all but a £1 but I bagged a few bargains - 25 sheets of double sided paper for £7, double sided tape 50p per roll and some Tim Holtz Distress Inks for £3 each!! to name a few.

I saw Kim & Tab doing their demo on the Magnolia stand and recognised a fair few other bloggers (I was too star struck to go up to them!).

Blogger will still not let me put any pics up so if you don't mind checking my Docrafts gallery every now and again.

Oh and I nearly forgot, I have started a weekly class at Lora Crafts and I'm really enjoying it. It's great to meet up with fellow crafters and actually have the time to sit down and craft !!

Just a quick post as I'm off to visit a friend, I made this card for my Aunty's birthday last week with some I my lovely new stash. I hope to be back in the next few days with some more cards but I've had such a hectic weekend celebrating my 30th (ahem) Birthday. My Fiance took me to London for the day (1st class of course) and treated me to a lovely ring and bracelet from Camden Lock Market followed by a delicious lunch and a cocktail (or two) at the Hard Rock Cafe. Yesterday we had a family meal.

Evening Everybody!

This is the card I made for Lyndsey who has taken over a local craft shop. I wanted to show my support so I popped into the open day she was having today of course I made a little purchase and my lovely Fiance treated me to an early birthday present too !! (The dreaded 3-0 is looming, I have 6 more days as a twenty-something!!).

I've used this weeks Friday Sketchers Sketch so I'll be entering this one. Once again I've used Basic Grey Lemonade (it's nearly all gone now), lots of hand-stitching and a bit of pink tulle.

Munky Birthday !!

In true Blue Peter style - Here's one I made earlier!! I didn't realise I hadn't put this one on my blog and only just found it when I was organising my pictures on here. I made this one for my younger sister in August - her nickname is Munky so birthday cards usually consist of 'monkeys' LOL.

I've used a Rachel Ann Miller Stamp which was lovely to colour in, you can't really see in the piccy but the balloons are decoupaged 3 times. I added lots of layers and a bit of hand stitching and a craftwork card sentiment. I was even brave and used my 'precious' American Craft ribbons!!

Well I'm taking my little man swimming later or "Spish Spash in the Baff" as he would say. I'm not sure who enjoys it more Mommy or Ben LOL

A New Baby Girl - Everybody Art Challenge #57

A new baby !! My friend gave birth to a little girl who they've named Evie Grace so out come DCWV Nana's Nursery. I really enjoyed making this one, I went to town on it, lots of distressing and I even decorated the inside.

I have used Studio G stamps, I've had them an age and only just go around to using them! The image is coloured in with polychromos and I have added a bit of clear glaze for highlights. I think I will be entering this into everybody-art-challenge #57 as this weeks theme is 'shabby'.

Happy Friday everyone!!

This is the card I have made for my nephew's First Birthday and once again it has turned out just as I had imagined it!!

I have used October Afternoon Night Light papers and die cuts. I have been very innovative and used ribbon that was on my Fiance Jamie Oliver Apron (photo corners).

I'm going to enter this into the Sketch and Stash Challenge #18. My new stash is the papers (which are nearly all gone) and my neglected brads (which I bought on a whim as they were reduced and then never used them!).

This is for Amanda's son Luke who turned 6 on Friday. I got a bit carried away and decorated all sides of the card and used 2 whole sheets of 12x12 (this is a first for me!!). I couldn't resist using my good old chipboard numbers, I always like to put ages on childrens cards. The poem reads :

When I was one,I had just begun.

When I was two,I was nearly new.

When I was three,I was hardly me.

I've used October Afternoon Night Light and Core'dinations. The stamp is Kilo Watt by Stamping Bella. I really enjoyed making this one, however it did take rather a long time as I made the mistake of getting my card making stuff out whilst my one year old was in the room - BIG mistake !! He took a fancy to poor little Kilo (he was nearly a gonner at one point!).

This is one that I made for my brother-in-law way back in June, I could't resist using this little pic of him and his big brother (my Fiance) and when I saw the We R Memory Keepers Papers they matched so perfectly !! This is a card I made for my cousin's boyfriend, it was meant to be entered into Bellarific Friday but silly old me forgot !! Tut Tut....

I would of liked to have spent a little more time on it but I wanted to get it in the post due to the Bank Holiday. I did manage to get in a bit of hand stitching (my cards never seem to look finished until I've done this !). My godson celebrated his 9th Birthday last week, I can't believe he is 9 already!! It only feels like yesterday when I got the early morning phone call (3 a.m!!) from his Mom (Sarah) to say he was born.... and I saw him later on that day. He is growing up to be one very well mannered young man. He always phones me to say Thanks for his card/present and he likes the fact I make the cards myself - he even said he couldn't do any better himself LOL.

Well it's my fiance's birthday next week and I'm struggling to think of ideas for his cards. I think I have sorted what Ben's card will entail but as for mine .... who knows ????

My Mom & Dad celebrated their 30th Wedding Anniversary today. As it's a special occasion I thought I would use an 8x8 card base from Craftwork Cards. I did a lot of hand stitching which looks like it took forever but with a cuppa and a good programme or a friend to natter to, I flew through it. I did cheat a little as I ran out of time and incorporated my little gift for them onto the card.

The little button heart was bought on Ebay from this seller : scarlet-butterfly. The service provided was great - I couldn't fault them one bit! I wanted a gift for them that was traditional and this pearl button heart fitted the theme perfectly!.

My Fiance and I cebrated our 9 year Anniversary this year and I didn't want to send him a soppy card so when I saw this froggy stamp by Stamping Bella I couldn't resist and used him. The sentiment was a bit tricky to get right as I didn't want to sound like I was 'to free' at giving my kisses away (if you get what I mean!). I did a lot of hand stitching on this one and a bit of distressing to stop it from looking too girly.

Here's the card I made for her, I really, really enjoyed making this one. I used a lot of supplies and hand stitching and to be honest I was sad to part with it but I knew it would be appreciated and well loved LOL

The layouts of each section were all previous Stamping Bella Sketches which lent themselves so well to the Ketto stamps.

What a glorious day! I'm taking a break after working hard this morning - we are in the process of redecorating our living room so I've put a base coat of white on the walls and glossed the woodwork. I'm really pleased with how much I've managed to get done !

Anyways enough of the boring bit and on with the card.

This is one that I have made for my (soon to be one year old) son to give to his Daddy on his first Father's Day and I'm so pleased with how it's turned out. It's even better than the vision I had in my head. I have to give Mandy (Amanda's Paper Palace) some credit for this though as it has her stamp (Leo from High Hopes) and her idea for the sentiment (You're my Mane Man) but the inside was all my own ;)

Well I detest making male cards with a passion so when I saw the theme over at Colour Create I thought I would use the opportunity to get one out of the way. I had already inked up this beauty - Eli and Frogger by Whipper Snapper (care of Amanda!) so I just had to colour him in. I found the sketch on another challenge blog (if I can find it again, I'll edit to add) and chose Basic Grey Offbeat papers. This is my first 'proper' entry on a challenge blog so I hope you all like it. Here's the Mother's Day card I made for my Mother-in-Law. She's a bit of a cat fanatic so I just had to ink up my new Inkadinkado Cat stamps for this one. Lots of inking and distressing on this one along with Basic Grey Sugared papers. I added a bit of lace from my local craft shop and a Craftwork Card sentiment. I tried to get a decent picture of the charm but the ribbon kept getting in the way! it's a fish skeleton =)

I'm working on a mini scrapbook for my Grandma for her 80th birthday so I hope to be posting pics of that soon !!

Phew, it's been a long day! We have been spring cleaning our house and even though it's still not finished I feel so much better for it.

So on with the card, this was one I made for my Grandma for Mother's Day. I've used Tilda with Tag along with Basic Grey porcelain papers. This was my first attempt at colouring in a stamped image and I don't think I've done too bad (even if I say so myself!). Please let me know what you think?

Decoupage is not my normal thing as I'm too lazy to cut all the images out LOL but when I saw this cute Forever Friends set that was all ready pre-cut I couldn't resist. All I had to do was mount them on to a nestabilitie card and added a bit of ribbon from Hobbycraft.

Well I'm back, I hope I have been missed?

My bestest buddy Mandy (or Amanda @ Amanda's Paper Palace to you guys) is celebrating her 10 year anniversary with her boyfriend Lee. According to Wikipedia the traditional gift for 10 years is Tin/Aluminium so I tried to think of a way to incorporate this into the card and then I remembered I had some Art Emboss Aluminium in one of my crafting boxes so I pulled it out. I embossed it with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folding and cut with my scalloped nestabilities. The quote is a DCWV rub-on.

I have actually found some time to make a few cards so I'll be adding them to my blog over the next few days. I've caught the stamping bug so I've been 'borrowing' a few of Mandy's stamps and made a couple of purchases myself so those will be popping up too.

I would also like to ask you all to please leave a comment as it's nice to know what you all think of my cards (so I can make improvements) and I will in turn try to do the same when I visit your blogs.

This is a card I made for my Dad on Father's Day, men's cards are always difficult but I was rather chuffed with the way this turned out. I used my Cricut to cut the hash sign and the 1, the DAD letters were hand cut.
My Dad loved the card, it's nice as whenever I give him a handmade card he always examines it very closely LOL
Anyways I suppose I should crack on with this card . . . but I'm out of ideas . . hhmm more blog hopping methinks!!

Sorry I've not had chance to post earlier but I've had a teething baby this week. I can't believe that at 21 weeks Ben i s cutting his second tooth. The first one cut absolutely fine, in fact we only had one grizzly day, but this one is giving my poor little man some grief !!

A little bit of Welsh for you!

These were made for Ben's Grandparents (my in-laws) on their birthdays. Ben's granddad is Welsh so in July I wanted to create a card that was a bit more special than the typical 'granddad' cards. If you haven't guessed already Taid is Welsh for granddad. He was very chuffed with his very first 'Taid' card!
